Advantages and Disadvantages of Supersymmetry Breaking at Low Energies *

چکیده
The breaking of supersymmetry is usually assumed to occur in a hidden sector. Two natural candidates for the supersymmetry breaking transmission from the hidden to the observable sector are gravity and the gauge interactions. Only the second one allows for supersymmetry breaking at low energies. I show how the two candidates deal with the flavor and the μ-problem; I also briefly comment on the doublet-triplet and dark matter problem.

Dynamical Supersymmetry Breaking and Low Energy Gauge Mediation
Dynamical breaking of supersymmetry was long thought to be an exceptional phenomenon, but recent developments have altered this view. A question of great interest in the current framework is the value of the underlying scale of supersymmetry breaking. The “little hierarchy” problem suggests that supersymmetry should be broken at low energies. Within one class of models, low energy breaking be a...
متن کاملSupersymmetry without Supersymmetry
We investigate the possibility that supersymmetry is not a fundamental symmetry of nature, but emerges as an accidental approximate global symmetry at low energies. This can occur if the visible sector is nonsupersymmetric at high scales, but flows toward a strongly-coupled superconformal fixed point at low energies; or, alternatively, if the visible sector is localized near the infrared brane ...
متن کاملDynamical supersymmetry breaking at low energies.
Conventional approaches to supersymmetric model building suffer from several naturalness problems: they do not explain the large hierarchy between the weak scale and the Planck mass, and they require fine tuning to avoid large flavor changing neutral currents and particle electric dipole moments. The existence of models with dynamical supersymmetry breaking, which can explain the hierarchy, has...
متن کاملA Note on Softly Broken MQCD
We consider generic MQCD configurations with matter described by semiinfinte D4-branes and softly broken supersymmetry. We show that the matter sector does not introduce supersymmetry breaking parameters so that the most relevant supersymmetry breaking operator at low energies is the gaugino mass term. By studying the run-away properties of these models in the decoupling limit of the adjoint ma...
متن کاملNonlinear Supersymmetric Effective Lagrangian and Goldstino Interactions at High Energies
We show that the nonlinear supersymmetric effective lagrangian can be used for model-independent parameterization of the light gravitino scattering amplitude at energies up to and above the soft supersymmetry-breaking masses. This provides the most convenient framework for systematic studies of goldstino phenomenology both at low energies and in high energy colliders.
